Mr. Samuel Amo Tobbin is the Group Executive Chairman of Tobinco Group of Companies. He is an extraordinary entrepreneur with a special ability to spot business opportunities and an incredible talent for growing businesses and managing people. His business journey started with the hawking of pharmaceutical products at a tender age within some rural communities in the Western Region of Ghana. He later traveled to Japan to seek greener pastures but returned after five (5) years to set up a small electrical shop in Accra in the Opera Square area. Around the same time, he opened his first chemical shop.
In an effort to expand his business, he traveled to India to look for partners but could not find one immediately. However, he left his contact details with potential partners. In 2001 Mr. Tobbin received a call from a manufacturer who was seriously looking for a representative in Ghana for Alaxin tablets (An antimalarial drugs). The first consignment of Four (4) cartons of Alaxin was sent to him, which he sold and remitted the money to the supplier. The small chemical shop has now transformed into Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in Ghana. As part of its growth strategy, he established Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Centre to serve as the main supplier of Tobinco Pharmaceuticals.
The establishment of Entrance Pharmaceuticals also paved way for our international business to take off through export and foreign direct investment (FDI). As a forward-looking astute businessman, he saw the need to diversify into other industries. Therefore, he established ABii National Savings and Loan Limited, Priority Insurance, Toblues Properties, Entrance University College of Health Sciences, Entrance University Hospital, Atinka Media Village (Atinka FM, Atinka TV, Agyenkwa FM, and Ahotor FM), SAT Foundation and Dor Event Centre. The SAT Foundation was established to pursue his philanthropic agenda to support widows, the poor, the needy, and the sick.
He is a member of the Church of Pentecost and a Presiding Elder. He serves on the Council of Pentecost University College and is Chairman of the Takoradi Technical University Council. He is the Chancellor of Entrance University College and Health Sciences. He is the Dwantoahene of the Apinto Traditional Area of the Western Region and his stool name is Nana Amo Tobbin I.
